When I was young a longish time ago we were immunised against various illnesses. All the usual. We were lined up and a nurse put some vaccine on a sugar lump with a syringe and popped it in our mouths to suck and swallow. Which vaccine it was I do not know, but ? Anyway I don’t think they continued that method probably because it would have been too easy to spit out the vaccine and suck the sugar? In all other cases we got injections. However it is a fact that once someone gets measles the injection will not work as a cure. Maybe that is because the virus is in the stomach and organs as well as the blood and any attempted cure given by injection will not reach it. In the intestines for example is not the same as in the blood, but if it worked to give the medicine orally how many other illnesses could be cured with a simple sugar lump style dose of medicine? The good news is if it worked the person would be fully immunised because it would reach the blood from the stomach, but not the other way around.
