The idea is that portions are single, and if you make more you simply multiply the portions, but people, especially the poor need to buy smaller portions just now for the good of their health. This might be better understood if I were to tell you that this is the secret of the success of companies delivering single meals. Even though I doubt they are aware of this? It should not affect them if superstores switch our basics to smaller portions. Often poorer families have small fridges and freezers. They could fill them with a bag of chicken and a bag of frozen veg, and a ? Sorry no room for more. A slight exaggeration maybe, but they’ll tell you the difficulty of cheaply balancing their children’s diet better than me. The price should reflect the quantity, and only the basics need apply.
